      JAZZY 88 General Manager
       Sharon Kay serves as GM at Fisk University’s radio station JAZZY 88 WFSK. When hired in late 2005 by Fisk University, Kay was the first female to serve in that capacity in the station’s history.  WFSK (formerly WRFN) signed on the air in 1973.

In 2009, she was named Nashville’s Best Radio Station General Manager at the 13th Annual Achievement in Radio Awards, making her the first African American to receive the award. 

Ms. Kay is also well known for being host and creator of the popular radio talk show “What’s the 411? with Sharon Kay”, which she began in 2001 on Cumulus Media.  The program airs on WFSK Wednesday's from 4pm to 6pm and Sunday's from 7am to 9am and still remains a stable for Nashville listening audience.  

Kay’s syndicated program “What’s the 411” has been is part of the African American Public Radio Consortium (AAPRC) satellite programming options available to public, community & HBCU stations.    Sharon has been a media professional now for 40-years with stints in radio, television, newspaper, and web-based services. 


Sharon, a respected veteran broadcaster is responsible for the station's format, playlists, music selections and programs in all forms of jazz, promotions,  station imaging and fundraising.  Under her leadership JAZZY 88 has become an award winning widely respected radio station and a Billboard Magazine reporting station, Groove Jazz Music reporting radio station and named as Nashville's Best Jazz Station 2017 by the Nashville Scene Newspaper.

     JAZZY 88 Program Director

     Xuam "The X-Man"  Lawson is the station's Program Director and host of the Gospel Program, "Real Gospel" with The Xman.  The music and interviews program airs Sundays 9am to 12n.   He is licensed to preach in the Baptist church and is ordained as a church Elder in the Church of God in Christ.

He's a veteran radio broadcaster with stints at WQQK 92Q and WQZQ - 102.5 The Party. Lawson produces multiple programs at WFSK and is responsible for selection and gospel music programming for his broadcast and the Sunrise Gospel Program.

Monday - 6:00pm - 7:00pm  - Freestyle

Veteran journalist Ron Wynn is a talk host, music critic, author and editor. His features, reviews and articles have run locally, nationally and online.  Wynn is currently sports editor for the Tennessee Tribune,  a contributor to Jazz Times and Everything Underground web service. 

The Freestyle program covers arts, culture and politics.  Ron and Crew (William Jenkins, Eddie Grey,  Dawn Rutledge & producer James Beard) rotate on various weeks of the show.

Tuesday - 7:00pm to 9:00pm  -  Night Grooves
Indigo Blue, a native Nashvillian, is host of the Night Grooves program and features a soulful saucy blend of smooth jazz, and contemporary jazz making it just right at night.  In addition to radio announcing, she is the Director of Partners for Life, an international faith-based HIV/AIDS and education project through Metropolitan Interdenominational Church in Nashville, TN.   The program supports disenfranchised communities in Haiti and South Africa impacted by a lack of health and educational resources.

Ms. Blue  serves on a number of local boards and committees, including World AIDS Day, Elam Mental Health Center, Witness Project, and United Way.
  




Thursday 5:00pm - 6:00 pm  - Common Cent$: The Money Show

Common Cent$ airs live every Thursday evening at 5p to 6pm and addresses economic issues, wealth building and debt reduction.  Co-hosts have experience in various areas of business and finance in both non-profit and for profit.

Leroy Cunningham, Co-Host 
Leroy has years of experience working with the TN. Small Business Development Center  at MTSU in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.   Leroy co-hosts on the 2nd Thursday of each month.

Daryl Hill, Co-Host
Daryl is very knowledgeable in fair housing, refinancing, mortgage financing rules and regulations and HUD rules and regulations.

     He is a housing counselor with an area community center designed to aid potential homeowners in the process.  He is a native of California.

John Wiggins, Producer 

John is an area film maker and photographer.  He has directed and acted in several stage plays in the Nashville area.  


Thursday 6:00pm - 7:00pm HealthWatch:
A 60 Minute Pathway to Better Health


     HealthWatch is co-hosted by faculty & staff from three Nashville, TN. universities (Fisk, Meharry and TN. State University).  It's designed to address health disparity issues, promote and encourage health/wellness as achievable ways of living; and better inform health consumer decision making and spur discussion on timely health topics.

Elizabeth Williams,  Ph. D., co-host ​

       "Dr. E" as she is known is a seasoned public health professional with 10+ years experience in health disparities research, policy development and community engagement.

      A former public health official with the Tennessee Department of Health and administrator with the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, Dr. E is currently a professor at Tennessee State University in the Master of Public Health Program.

Robert Wingfield, Ph.D.,  co-host
        He's an Associate Professor & Chemistry Discipline Coordinator Department of Life and Physical Sciences At Fisk University.  He's currently serving as the Director of the Fisk Community Environmental Toxic Awareness and Sustainability Program, additionally he serves as the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator for Academic Affairs.

      Dr. Wingfield has over 12- years industrial experience in chemical process and product development. He's the former chair of Nashville Health Disparities Coalition.

D. Johniene Thomas, MSPH, co-host 

    Ms.  Thomas serves as an education Coordinator in the Department of Internal Medicine at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN.  She has worked worked in the health care arena for over 30-years.
       She is a graduate of Transylvania University in Kentucky. 

     Johniene has been active in community affairs and has enjoyed being engaged in community theater over the years.

WFSK's Sports Corner Show has become of our popular weekend programs with a sports loving team of all around great guys.   Demetrius Conwell, (pictured), Jason Harrison & Vando Rogers as the show's Producer make-up the team.  The guys are Fisk alum so there's plenty of chatter and opinion about HBCU Sports.

The Planet Creole Show
Saturday 10:00am to 12:00pm

     Planet Creole is a Haitian Creole culture program which broadcast live on WFSK from 10am to 12noon on Saturdays.  The shows co-hosts are from Haiti and speak French, Creole  and English with translation. 

     Addressing governmental and political issues for Haitian living in the region as well as those back home the Planet Creole co-hosts interact with callers on a variety of topics as well as social and Nashville community.

Co-host Phidomise Leveque  "Phi-Phi"
She is is President of the Tennessee Haitian Voice non-profit organization and community advocate. is a health care provider and always includes some health information for their listening audience.
