W.E.B. DuBois Lecture Series
The W.E.B. DuBois Lecture Series is a partnership between WFSK JAZZY88 and the Alkebu-Lan Images Bookstore which began in August 2007. Our purpose is to encourage and empower community advocates, educators and grass-roots volunteers to promote positive behavior & human development. Our lectures series serves as a model for business and non-profit entities to work together toward a common shared goal. This lecture series benefits WFSK.
Our 2017 Speaker is Dr. Jawanza Kanjufu
Dr. Jawanza Kanjufu is this years Speaker for the W.E.B. DuBois Lecture Series on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 7:00pm in the Appleton Room Jubilee Hall on the Fisk campus. Doors open at 6:00pm.
Kanjufu, an educational consultant, mentor, lecturer is author of more than 30-books . His workshops address a variety of audiences, including students, parents, teachers, and community residents. He has dedicated his life to uplifting communities.
Tickets are $20.00 and are available at the Alkebu - Lan Images Bookstore at 2721 Jefferson Street. Dr. Kanjufu's books will be available at the event.

The W.E.B. DuBois Lecture Series speakers have been:
August 11, 2007 - Steve Perry an innovative educator, author and speaker. Perry is the founder and principal of what U.S. News and World Report has cited as one of the top schools in the country, Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford, Connecticut. Perry's presentation was on his book Man Up! Nobody's Coming to Save Us.
September 2, 2014 - Umar Johnson Doctor of Clinical Psychology and Certified School Psychologist, speaker and author
August 27, 2015 - Frances Cress Welsing, a renowned psychiatrist and author of the seminal 1991 work The Isis (Yssis) Papers: The Keys to the Colors lectured on the system of white supremacy and racism to a packed house for her appearance. Dr. Cress-Welsing passed away on January 2, 2016.
September 29, 2016 - Dr. Claud Anderson brought the house down with his economic empowerment message in 2016.
